Pee-Wee Herman will host a new radio show

If you’ve ever wanted to hear the sound of Pee-Wee Herman’s voice while driving, that dream will finally come true thanks to KCRW, the national public radio station based in Santa Monica, California. Herman, played by actor Paul Reubens, will host a show joined by his best friends, Chairry, Magic Screen and Miss Yvonne. Fans will be able to see how Herman’s madness translates to audio support.

At this time, Herman will only host one show, KCRW representatives have said. Variety Monday. The show airs Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. PT, delivering the perfectly insane soundtrack after a day of Black Friday shopping. Herman’s show won’t be available on demand until a week after it airs.

KCRW also sent a press release from Herman, whose address is Milky Way Galaxy, Planet Earth, next to the Pacific Ocean, i.e. Santa Monica. “I’m so excited, this is my very first! I sent them a letter, which got lost (apparently!), then I tagged them on Twitter, then they didn’t believe it was me until my biggest, best, most amazing fans called and called and blocked their phone lines (hee hee),” Herman’s statement read. “Thank you fans because they’ll get me donuts and leave me the keys to the studio while they’re on vacation!”

The letter Herman is referring to was posted on his Twitter page on November 10. The letter, with “From the office of Pee-Wee Herman” printed on it, was written in typescript, insisting that it was not a standard letter sent to several radio stations. (Although hilariously “KRCW” was typed on a speck of whiteout, suggesting that Herman may not be telling the whole truth and nothing else.) “I can arrange transportation to our headquarters if an in-person meeting or even an audition is desired,” Herman wrote. He also added in a postscript that he wears small headphones.

Reubens has played the character Pee-Wee Herman since 1977. He became a household name thanks to Pee-Wee Playhouse, which aired from 1986 to 1990 and became a cult classic series. Herman also acted in three films, The Great Pee-Wee Adventure (1985), Pee Wee at the marquee (1988) and Netflix The Pee-Wee’s Big Vacation (2016).
