Franck Ocean gifted fans and listeners with a special Christmas episode of its Apple Music 1 broadcast blonde RADIO Pin up. Released earlier today on December 25, the award-winning recluse shared an intimate conversation between himself and a motivational speaker and extreme athlete Wim “Iceman” Hoff on bereavement management.
Ocean’s younger brother, Ryan Breaux, died in August 2020 following an unfortunate car accident.
This vulnerable look inside the world of Ocean comes two years after its last Apple Music installment. Speaking about the conversation with the extreme athlete, Ocean said: “We talked for a while about his work, the purpose of grief and how going into cold water changed his life. It reminded me of conversations in the studio with players I know.
With additional keys and sounds by Cory Henry and Dylan Patrice Wiggins, Ocean rolls free for nearly nine minutes, rapping about his late brother, the need for a spiritual connection, and delivers emotionally charged lines that will have anyone sitting down and cherishing the memories of loved ones. . “I could be awesome, I’m on my way / If I wanna get away, I can get away,” he states in the lyric of the chorus.

“I added writing at the end that I did a single take of [with] Cory [Henry] in the summer of 2020,” he added. “I came back and added some words and parts above this take more recently. I felt like it matched the wabi-sabi of Wim’s words. Merry Christmas to everyone.”
The nameless, heartfelt track is currently only officially available to listeners through Apple Music, and it’s not yet known if it will be uploaded to other streaming platforms.
In the meantime, it has been preserved in fan recordings like the one you can play below. Perhaps this hints at more new music from the great singer-songwriter as we get closer to his headlining performance at Coachella in 2023.
