One of the most successful organizations in southern Illinois, the Masterworks Chorale was founded in 1974 by Dr. A. Dennis Sparger, when he was a professor at Belleville Area College (now Southwestern Illinois College). Dedicated to excellence in choral music, the Chorale presents a series of annual subscription concerts at venues in Metro East and Saint Louis. The Chorale also sponsors the Masterworks Children’s Chorus. Dr. Stephen Mager has been Artistic Director and Conductor of Masterworks since 2009.
